Background
Space Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory (SPAEL) is located at Utility Block P of Obafemi Awolowo University and affiliated with African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education-English (ARCSSTE-E). It is an interdisciplinary multi-user laboratory aimed at investigating the causes and consequences of environmental changes using geo-information based techniques.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE
  1. Production of new digital maps
  2. conversion of traditional maps to digital form
  3. Developing map database
  4. Co-coordinating GIS related initiatives
  5. Facilitating geo-information based environmental research
  6. Climate Change Modeling
RULES AND REGULATIONS

Users Permit: To get access to the Space Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory, make contact with Prof. Ayobami.T. Salami (asalami@oauife.edu.ng or ayobasalami@yahoo.com). Obtain a form, get a user account, password, identity card and be allocated storage space.

The Laboratory term does not grant access to unauthorized user. Please keep to the rules. The Space Applications and Environmental Science Laboratory also provides services for students on all geo-information related coursework and research. All students wishing to make use of the laboratory should check first with the Laboratory Manager regarding accessibility of systems at certain times. SPAEL would not permit users without adequate knowledge of computer.

This Laboratory is a multi task environment with many users from various fields. The computers in the Laboratory are networked and connected to the server. They are shared by all users. Laboratory is opened from Monday through Friday (8.00am - 5.00 pm daily).

ATTENTION!
  1. Food and drinks are not allowed in the Laboratory
  2. Keep the door closed at all time
  3. Report any damage immediately
  4. You are held responsible for any damage done in the laboratory while working

DAMAGES
All technical problems with the hardware or software should be reported to the Manager. DO NOT alter or delete any installed software package. No installation of Software or Hardware should be done by users on any of the computer systems. Don't take the software without the permission of the Laboratory Manager; also return the software with the knowledge of the Laboratory Manager.

COMPUTER USE
None of the office equipment should be removed to any other place (inside or outside the Laboratory). All PCs are equipped with GIS softwares, Microsoft Office Professional Suite, graphical and statistical softwares.

PRINTING AND PRINTING CHARGES
  1. All printing are paid for, no test print, don't mess up your printout.
  2. Color letter format in A4: N 200.00
  3. Color A3 format: N 500.00
BACK UP
All work done in the Laboratory should be backed up. We don't take responsibility for lost data. Make use of our wide range of data backup to copy your work. CD and diskettes are available in the laboratory. Make sure backups used in the laboratory are VIRUS-FREE. We reserve the right to erase data from the hard drives after one month.
